Internet Tributes

Hello their, readers. Just before I go on with further music related posts I wanted to mention something with regards to tributes. As is the nature of life, their will be a time when that life ends, and these passings can be marked with a tribute. Relating this idea with the blogs and other websites, I had this idea, and would really appreciate feedback on, which was to set up a tribute page on the linked to each of the Blogged......blogs. Basically, the idea would be tributes are placed on the website by anyone who wants to, under the name of the person who has passed on (in what ways seen fit, could be with words, music, video or an image for example) along with the persons name the tributes are too. I planed on putting this across each blog, so that tributes could be added relating to a passing in that field, so for example on the music blog, if someone had passed on from the music industry. The idea I thought would be to mark their impact in that field, but wanting to recognize the person they were to people not from a industry perspective but from a personal perspective, more then just the industry they were famous for. I was thinking of adding a separate website for each of these blogs tribute pages and link them up to the blogs, where anyone will be able to post their tributes. I'll still post tributes on to the blog itself, and in recent months the music world has seen a number of looses close together, and I planned on posting a tribute on these artists life, but unfortunately I was unable to at the time, however I will now be working on those along with the tribute pages.

As I say your feedback will be greatly appreciated on this idea, along with another page where the idea is people can give messages to anyone they want, it could be a message of encouragement, a message of congradulation, or maybe just to say hi, any nice message will do!

New Music From Charlotte Church

Well, I was pleased to hear of some new material from one of my favioute vocalists, Charlotte Church. She has a new albun out soon. Now I was one of the people who really enjoyed the tracks on her previous album, Back To Scratch and thought that overall it was a pretty underated album. Now the new, as yet unknown tittled album has a different fell to it, then Back To Scratch, or indeed any of Charlotte's previous material. I mean you can hear it's Charlotte Church, but with a great rocking vibe, I think it sounds brilliant. Very excited to hear what else is on the album, I think it reminds me a little of Amy Lee.

Mull Of Kingtyre and other 'Place Songs'

I was listning to Smooth 70's (a great radio station, providing a nice range of 70's greats) when on came the Paul Mcarthny and Wings hit, Mull Of Kingtyre. This is a song I've heard many times before but it struck me today, that after taking in the lyrics of the song all the times I have heard it, I didn't actually know what the song was about. Not who or what a M'Mull' is or this 'Kingtyre' that's mentioned. I can make a guess and for some reason my feeling is that a 'Mull' is a landscape features such as a large green hill or a mountain perhaps. The Kingtyre I'm guessing is a place, Scotland is where my feelings go on that one. But let's try and find out. Well, Wikipedia is back after it's recent 'gone dark' phase so let's see what they say on the matter. Acording to said website (after I arrived their from Google after acidently typing in Mull of Mcintyre, I think a certain comedian was on my mind) , 'Mull Of Kingtyre' is and I quote ' The Mull of Kintyre (formerly Cantyre) is the southwesternmost tip of the Kintyre Peninsula in south west Scotland.' So now you know, if you didn't already. Thanks Wikipedia and as far as I know this is indeed the real explanation. See you can learn from music. That reminds me I must try and find a place called Amarillo on Google Maps.
Their have been quite a lot of songs over the years that are about places. Maybe not as many as their are about 'my baby', but you know a fair few. One of my favioute is Carricafergus which was brung to my attention by Charlotte Church. I think she sounds very nice on this track. Beautiful video, looks like a good advert for Carricafergus, which if my geography knowledge serves me correct (it rarely does) is a place in Wales

Whitney Houston 1963-2012

Whitney Houston Pictures, Images and Photos

As we heard of the death of Whitney Houston, thoughts are with all those who knew her. Their will  be all those who never met her, but knew her music and admired her work. I'm one of those people and it is their I would like to share my thoughts on what I knew of Whitney- a singing great. I don't just mean that as a phrase to say, but I mean that. She was a great singer, whose songs have rightly become classics. She used her voice to make great records. Whitney had a truly brilliant vocal; a vocal that could give us fast, up beat dance numbers such as I Wanna Dance With Somebody, then give us an epic take on powerful ballads, such as her cover of I Will Always Love You. What I loved about her voice as well as the great range of vocal styles she could perform was the richness in her voice, if you listen you can hear a lovely depth to her singing. An excellent performer.
She died very young indeed, but what a great catalogue of songs she has left us.
Here's a small selection of her brilliant songs, from musical greatness:

Evanescence-My Heart Is Broken Trailer

A new short trailer from one of my favourite bands, Evanescence has been released, it's for their new video 'My Heart Is Broken'. Take a look at the trailer here: My Heart Is Broken-Evanescence Trailer
From that short teaser, it sounds like classic Evanescence with it's sweeping music alongside Amy Lee's great vocals (which could also be described as sweeping, for sure). In other words, it sounds great and if their was a band where describing their sound as epic would seem a fair fit, I think it's fair to say Evanescence is one of those bands. Now, on the 24th of January from 12pm-4pm (UK time) the full video to My Heart Is Broken will be available by going to the Evanescence's facebook page and clicking on the Vevo's music video tab. Here you can enjoy a premier of the song. It's great to have some new material from Evanescence, I'll be looking forward to the release of My Heart Is Broken and the rest of their upcoming tracks too.

Charlotte Church-Back To Scratch

Yes, Charlotte is back with new music her new album Back To Scratch is out 25th October 2010. Here is her brand new single:

Previews of her new songs have also been released on the net, as well as the whole of the albums title track single-Back To Scratch. Some of the songs on Charlottes new album have been released to preview on websites such as her music profile on MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/charlottechurch), so here's my review based on the previews so far- so not a review of the whole songs as their yet on release, but a review on what we have so far:
First up, Cold California:
The song starts with a gentle sort of folky/country rhythm is how I can think to describe it, then comes in Charlotte's gentle vocals which soon go into a showcase for her strong voiced singing-a great start to the song. If you sign up to Charlotte's newsletter you can get a free copy of this track, you can sign up at http://www.myspace.com/charlottechurch)
Next we have a sample of The Actors.:
Now some of you may already know this song before it was released as previews on the internet as Charlotte sang it during BBC's Over The Rainbow, although the album version may prove to be sung in a different style as is sometimes the case compared to a live performance. Straight from the songs opening part of the sample, this is a great sounding powerfully sang ballad by Charlotte great sounding vocals, that seems like a musical style big ballad if you see what I mean. If you want a listen to the version of this song Charlotte preformed live on Over The Rainbow here you go:

Then theirs Snow. This acoustic ballad styled track opens with Charlotte singing gently to the gentle and very nice soft guitar playing tune of the track. Her voice is sounding superb here too. This is very nice stuff. To see a video on this song:

So my opinion on the album so far is that I am hugely looking forward to it-what I really like about the album is that its a real showcase brilliant vocals Charlotte has, showcasing the strength of her voice very well, as well as the other voice notes she is can sing, as well as going to show the versatility on what she can sing-see how many different styles are showcased here on this one album and that's just a taster. So come 25th the whole album will be out and you can look out for Charlotte's upcoming TV appearances where she may well be performing from Back To Scratch (upcoming post on Blogged On TV with more details on those appearances if your interested).

Nadine Coyle's New Track Review

Heard Nadine Coyle's new track 'Insastiable'? If you want to hear it and watch the video:

Catchy, I think with a nice bit of 'rockiness' in with the pop, the girl can sing and here's a great track to showcase her voice. Theirs great music alongside Nadine's vocals, giving a great beat too. Thanks to the song (and dictionary.com) I found out what Insatiable meant, after I looked the meaning up when Nadine had used it for her song.( In case you were wondering, the word 'Insastiable' means: not satiable; incapable of being satisfied or appeased: insatiable hunger for knowledge' according to http://www.dictionary.reference).
You may of heard that the video faced an edit after it was said that while TV bosses had loved the video, they had decided it 'was a little too sexy for TV''. I'm not exactly sure what was removed from the video for the released version, but as far as I know it was some revealing outfits. Which if that is the case is interesting, considering that never mind some singers releasing videos with very revealing outfits, some go with no outfit at all on their videos and get still they get released. I am really liking this track from Nadine, right from the opening 'aaaahaaaa's'(she sings them very nicely) to the end of the track. One thing that surprised me was when Nadine's voice goes robotic, I wasn't expecting that, but its an amusing thing to hear anyway. So a good debut single from Nadine and it will be interesting to see what other tracks she has in store when more new material is released.

Nadine's debut single Insatiable is released to buy on the 1st November 2010.

Cheryl Coles' Solo Single

Well you may have seen the video for Cheryl Coles' new single Fight For This Love. What do you think of it? I viewed the official video on YouTube for the first time a few days ago and since then I've listened to it more and am liking it. Cheryl's Heartbreaker ft Will.Am.I was her first solo song from Girls Aloud, the track I didn't mind, but Fight For This Love I think the girls done good on. She shows good sound, good song lyrics and nice video. It does a good job to show Cheryl does have good vocal range which isn't confined to singing in a group. Some band members may sound good as a group but get them singing individually then their voice may not seem as strong. Not the case for Cheryl, she may get a No.1 with this one. So Cheryl's proved herself I'm thinking it's very interesting wondering what Cheryl's co-band member Nadine may release if she tries her hand at solo music which apparently she's been working on.
Release Date For Cheryl Coles' Fight For This Love : October 19Th 2009

'A'

The letter 'A' theme has crossed over to the music section too. My mission is to do a bit on a Singer begining with 'A' and maybe some over 'A' related randomness, including to watch/listen to a singer beginging with 'A''s music video/track and give it a review and the random treatment.Ok, the least Random thing about me is my use of the word 'Random'.

Lily Allen-New Single The Fear

If you want to take a look at Lily's Video 'The Fear' Here It Is-Warning This One Contains The Swearing!(If I find a clean one for all you non-swearing fans like Gordon Ramsey I may post that too!)

Lily Allen-New Single The Fear

My Recommended single for today is, Lily Allen's The Fear. Take away the unnecessary swearing (I'm not one for swearing in songs, with Lily's music I have felt it would sound better without it, really-as you may be aware there are 'clean' versions without the 'F' word available, though)then you have a single put together by Lily that is thoughtful, witty and nicely sang with a catchy tune to boot. Nice video, with Lily looking lovely.Recommended.
