Mull Of Kingtyre and other 'Place Songs'

I was listning to Smooth 70's (a great radio station, providing a nice range of 70's greats) when on came the Paul Mcarthny and Wings hit, Mull Of Kingtyre. This is a song I've heard many times before but it struck me today, that after taking in the lyrics of the song all the times I have heard it, I didn't actually know what the song was about. Not who or what a M'Mull' is or this 'Kingtyre' that's mentioned. I can make a guess and for some reason my feeling is that a 'Mull' is a landscape features such as a large green hill or a mountain perhaps. The Kingtyre I'm guessing is a place, Scotland is where my feelings go on that one. But let's try and find out. Well, Wikipedia is back after it's recent 'gone dark' phase so let's see what they say on the matter. Acording to said website (after I arrived their from Google after acidently typing in Mull of Mcintyre, I think a certain comedian was on my mind) , 'Mull Of Kingtyre' is and I quote ' The Mull of Kintyre (formerly Cantyre) is the southwesternmost tip of the Kintyre Peninsula in south west Scotland.' So now you know, if you didn't already. Thanks Wikipedia and as far as I know this is indeed the real explanation. See you can learn from music. That reminds me I must try and find a place called Amarillo on Google Maps.
Their have been quite a lot of songs over the years that are about places. Maybe not as many as their are about 'my baby', but you know a fair few. One of my favioute is Carricafergus which was brung to my attention by Charlotte Church. I think she sounds very nice on this track. Beautiful video, looks like a good advert for Carricafergus, which if my geography knowledge serves me correct (it rarely does) is a place in Wales
